Keyboard Extension

I rectly bought a new Pro White Keyboard for my Mac Mini and i hooked up using my black and clear sawtooth keyboard extension from my old keyboard and the end would fit all the way into the extension cable is it because of usb 2.0, and do all keyboards come with the extension? I thought they did?
 
I have an extension that came with my black apple pro keyboard and mouse which all came with my quicksilver. My grandpa's G5 came with the white AP kb/mouse and it had the extension. I don't know about buying them without a computer, but I figure they should, because the cord is extremely short.
 
thats what i was figuring.. wonder how i could ask apple for one, and if they'd come through
