Hello everyone!

I'm a pianist with classical training for around 10 years. I decided it was time I started doing some musical production of my own. I am mainly interested in creating Bass+Drum tracks for Jazz Trios, some piano Jazz pieces of my own, Acoustic Remixes of several pieces, and perhaps some Big Band and Orchestral work.

While I have little notions of professional music production, I am inclined to believe that to these goals, a simple keyboard would suffice, if accompanied by decent software (which OS X has).

I am creating this topic so as to receive the most feedback on you guys about what keyboard would suit me best.

I am a fan of weighted keyboards - I intend to make some of the interpretation come from my fingers, not from the artificial adjustment of tone/intensity/etc. I'd also like a reasonable number of keys (88 would be ideal, obviously). I don't need a lot of nots and complex commands which I can simply control with software. Nor is portability a priority. Being a student, my budget is obviously limited.

Taking this in consideration, I believe a good MIDI keyboard would suffice for my needs. I'd like, however, the input of those who clearly know more about this subject than I do!

Thanks for your time,
