I know this may be a silly question, but is there a way for me to type l'accent grave and l'accent aigu with a US keyboard? Is there a keystroke I'm not aware of?

Try OPTION-` and OPTION-E before typing the character you want it to appear over. In fact, run through the whole keyboard holding down OPTION for some cool characters. :p

I'm trying to figure out the keystrokes for french letters without having to change my entire keyboard over. The only one I've found so far is "ç"

I'm still trying for the l'accent grave "e", the l'accent aigu "e", and the Le tr(l'accent aigu e)ma i, o, and e.

*Sigh*

Remind me what they look like again. Are these good enough: è, é, ê, ë, ç? They're all enabled by pressing OPTION on various keys before typing in the e. :)

Oh, ok! I see how you're doing it now. One thing though, i can't figure out how to do the circonflexe (look like a little hat). One letter are you pressing for that one?

I SO know what you're going through, I almost lost my nails during french. I doubt you'll use them all but here they are. I'm not sure if this is all, but it's what I found.

à- option, `, a

î- option, i, i

â- option, i, a

ï- option, u, i

ç- option, c

ô- option, i, o

è- option, `, e

ù- option, `, u

é- option, e

û- option, i, u

ë- option, u, e

Straight-forward answer to your question:

For grave: Hold down OPTION and hit ` - then hit e.
For aigu: Hold down OPTION and hit e - then hit e again.
For circumflex: Hold down OPTION and hit u - then hit e.

If you want to apply the accent to other vowels, you simply replace the "e" with the other vowel you want.
