I know, I'm not the first to come across this issue (in general) but I'm still annoyed by it:
Just 20 minutes ago I woke up my Macbook Pro (keyboard patch has long been applied, currently: 10.5.5, upgraded a few days ago) from sleeping and neither the Touchpad, nor the internal Keyboard are working :confused:
System Profiler doesn't show the devices either.
It seems that the following line coincides with the keyboard issue:

23/09/2008 21:10:02 kernel AppleUSBMultitouchDriver::_deviceGetReport: DeviceRequest (interface 0, reportID 0x0) returned error 0xe0004061
23/09/2008 21:10:02 kernel AppleUSBMultitouchDebug: _deviceGetReport returned an error in configurePower
23/09/2008 21:10:02 kernel USBF: 300720.398 [0x769e600] The IOUSBFamily is having trouble enumerating a USB device that has been plugged in. It will keep retrying. (Port 2 of hub @ location: 0x5d000000)
23/09/2008 21:10:02 kernel AppleUSBMultitouchDriver: stopping

Has anybody experienced this issue too?? I'd love to fix it without having to send the MBP in for repairs as it's my only computer/laptop and I don't really like handing over my Laptop with all the private data on the harddrive...

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Edit: "Solved" - Seems like a hardware fault due to a hardware design error. Here are the details on how to reproduce it: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7284240#7284240
