Keyboard letters not working only numbers

Dear all,
I got Retina 2017 with latest high sierra os
Suddenly all letters not working it only writes boxed question marks but numbers are working. Also if i click or right click on trackpad a menu pops ups. I'm not able to figure out if this is a keyboard fault or a software issue. Please any info to fix it is really appreciated. Thank you

There is a service program on apple website, you can fix them for free. But before that, update the software to big sur first. it might work

It sounds like it could be a software issue. I'd suggest rebooting and holding Cmd-R at the chime to get into recovery mode (hopefully...). Open something like Terminal from there and see whether the keys work normally.
