Hey, I am looking for a good keyboard and mouse to compliment my macbook+external display. I don't need portability(so that leaves out the ultra small notebook mice) but i don't want the keyboard to be too big(I live in a college dorm so i don't really have the biggest desk).
I prefer wireless and I can only push my budget up to the $150 mark(paying more is unrealistic for just a keyboard and a mouse).

I have a similar setup (also on a small desk). A thin aluminum Apple keyboard and a basic wired logitech mouse should do. The Apple keyboards are pretty compact compared to other keyboards I've seen. Hell, if you want to save more space and a keypad isn't important to you get the bluetooth aluminum Apple keyboard, but those are more expensive.

I'm using a Logitech VX Revolution, and an Apple Aluminum Wireless Keyboard. Together they cost me around 110 USD.
