Keyboard not illuminate

Macbook pro early 2011.
10.7.3
I can't remember how many months they are, since I used illuminated keyboard.
But today, I really need it.
So, I went to system preferences, keyboard, and checked 'automatically illuminate...'.
I turned off the lights in my room.
Guess what: keyboard did not illuminated.

Why? Is there a problem? What can I do to illuminate mbp keyboard?

Did you try the buttons on the keyboard itself? Otherwise just hit up the Apple store.

Specifically the small maroon-coloured ambient light sensor to the left of the camera.

Does that kind of trickery reset the sensor's calibration? I'd love to do that for my MBA's brightness sensitivity.

No, it's just a method to check whether the sensor is working.

Wow! Such a fast solution!
I did not even remembered about these keys...
I pressed them and voila, keyboard illuminate.
It was so strange to me, check the checkbox and nothing happend.
Should I had to remeber, that someday in the past, I had turned off illumination by using keys?
