I am helpless here... My MacBook Pro (retina mid 2012) restarted with an error and upon the login screen, the keyboard wasn't working (I couldn't type my password). And the Bluetooth setup assistant poped up looking for a keyboard.

I tried EVERY possible attempt to get it working, but unsuccessfully. Even after trying to reinstall the OS I got an error message that it wasn't able to reinstall. Although during the installation and within the error log screen the keyboard was working!

Anybody can give me a tip on what to do next ? I am clueless and don't have access to another notebook.

I would try the external USB keyboard see if that would let you get around the built in keyboard issue.

I assume it has to be an Apple keyboard as well ? As I tried to connect a standard PC keyboard with no response at all..

/update: tried to re-install 2nd time, again no luck.
Only an error log.

I mean, wth when I can't even reinstall the OS ?
