Keyboard not working on MBP....help me please :)

Hello I have a MBP (2008 model) the keyboard stopped working. No apple care so just looking for some help.

My local apple authorized dealer says $429 to get it working, but he doesn't even know the issue yet. Also, it has never been dropped or water damaged.

BTW, the trackpad is working perfectly.
