Yesterday I was using my G3 Powerbook when I noticed first that my apple key would occasionally cease function. It got worse basically all day. Sometimes the spacebar works, sometimes it doesn't, some keys work, some don't. Is the keyboard going bad or is my ribbon just getting disconnected somehow. Also, anyone have a disassembly guide if it is in fact a bad connection?

It could just be dirty- have you tried blowing it out with canned air?

Also, anyone have a disassembly guide if it is in fact a bad connection?

www.ifixit.com has great guides. The keyboard is easy: just remove the power and battery (a standard, regular precaution), pull the tabs at the top of the keyboard toward you, and it should tilt up. There you can remove and re-seat the keyboard connector.

See http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac/PowerBook-G3-Lombard/Keyboard .

The only thing you might need to do is to unlock the locking screw for the keyboard, but I think this is unlocked by default, so it should not be a problem.

Good luck! Hope it is just dirty.
