On the apple website it says shift + ctrl + eject for making the display go to sleep. But I've tried this and it never works. Making the mac go to sleep works though, I use it all the time; option + :apple: +eject. Is there a way to see if the key combination is assigned to another program? I haven't changed it myself so unless it was reassigned when I installed some app.

Running OS 10.4.11 on Macbook C2D 2.16GHz

cheers, b.

0_o I tried both, and to me it seemed like the shift+ctrl+eject just made the screen black. BUT, option++eject made the thing sleeep
