Keyboard Shortcuts across applications???

Hi Guys apologies if there's a really obvious answer to this but my searches keeps coming up with irrelevant stuff.

Basically I want to be able to create a keyboard shortcut to open a new window in firefox, but that I can use when in any application.

So say I'm in Word and I press the shortcut and a new firefox window opens up.

Any ideas, thanks
