Keyboard shortcuts resetting

i have this great system of keyboard shortcuts figured out for the Keyboard Navigation section, among other little things, but for some reason it will randomly reset to defaults. i'd actually be willing to share my setup if anyone is interested. essentially all my shortcuts involve command control something, which is the most readily available combination. command control Z is great for Zoom for iTunes and making the Safari window show all that needs to be shown. but back to my problem. any ways to either ensure my settings somewhere or prevent them from changing?
