Hi,

I have an m1 Mac mini and use a backlit keyboard wired via usb. When I put the mini in sleep mode the monitor goes into sleep mode due to loss of signal from the mini, but the keyboard stays backlit because there is still power coming from the mini's USB-C port. Does anyone know how to fix this?

The backlight is relatively bright and I would prefer it was not on when the system is sleeping.

I have the same problem with a wired Satechi backlit keyboard via USB C to my iMac. Satechi even sent me a replacement claiming the new keyboard had updated firmware. Same problem. So I now have 2 keyboards that keep the backlight on when the computer sleeps.

I gave up on it and just use a keyboard cover. Not sure if there is a fix for this.

I have a wired 'Perixx' keyboard and I just turn the backlight off on the keyboard when I put my Mini to sleep - one keystroke and it is off!

I would think the keyboard still needs to be powered so you can wake up the computer.

If your keyboard cannot have its backlit turned off, I guess try to cover with with something?

On my windows machines the same keyboard goes dark when you sleep the computer. I assume the computer wakes up when a keystroke is detected.

Do not assume things that work on Windows to work the same on macs.
The next question would be, does your keyboard have a switch to turn the backlight off. If not, like another user here, your option is to just cover it.

I have the same problem.
I also have a problem with an LED light on my acer monitor that should go off too.
