Keyboard text message question

Is there a way to close the keyboard while in the text message app? I sometimes want to read my messages after texting but I'd like more reading space and to not have to exit and go back in to have full view, specially cause sometimes the keyboard stays up anyway. Any idea?

You can press the edit button and it removes the keyboard.

you have three options that I know of...

1. tap "Edit" at the top right of the messaging app, it will hide the keyboard.
2. if you go back out of the message and wait about 3 seconds and go back, the keyboard will be down.
3. iOS5. One of the many new features allows you now to drag down on the message and make the keyboard go back down.

I too want iOS 5. Maybe Beta 3 will be easy to get a hold of. ;P

Haven't got to play with the way iOS 5 implements it, but I really like the way Whatsapp does it; just tap the screen above the keyboard and the kb slides out of view.
