Hey guys,

I was just wondering if it's actually necessary to disconnect the ribbon cable when taking apart the MBP for a HD change? It doesn't seem to be involved and it looks like the top casing can open up with it still connected. Just to give you a little more working space?

I only ask because in the past, I have seen fiddly keyboard cables that didn't want to disconnect and I'm afraid of messing up my precious. ;) If it is necessary, can someone give me an idea of how hard it is to disconnect?

No it's not necessary, but you're more likely to rip the cable if you leave it connected.

its not necessary, but just taking it off would allow a lot more working space and convenience. Its just a socket so pull gently at the end and it should come off along with the tape, if any.

Ah cool, if it comes out that easily then I'll definitely do it...and for some reason should it be stuck, I don't have to force it.

Thanks a ton for the quick help!
