Anyone else have this with their M3 / M4 MBP or M3 / M4 MBA? The Imgur link in this thread does a good job demonstrating the 'issue' vs one that doesn't have it (looks like he has an older MBP for reference maybe M1 Pro or M2? dunno but)
check the Imgur here

My M2 was solid as can be and the m4 air I returned had this weird wobbly characteristic to it. In a typing flow it didn't bother me, but directly compared against my M2 15" which I still had it was rather obvious and a different takeaway and sometimes when I slowed down on typing speed is when I could feel the resistance of it more / impacting my accuracy.

Even my HP laptop that is a couple years old has a solid keyboard on it, nor M1 MBa from my memory and use for a few years. And a reference 13 M2 MBA has a solid keyboard as well.

I dont mean to stir up issues if they've gone unnoticed but this seems really odd its as prevalent as it is starting with last gens Pros and Airs. I felt the few 13 and one 15 MBA at my local best buy and aquick tap on the keys felt equally floaty and wobbly too (without depressing them). I even wonder if any new ones dont do this.

Ha ha, no never noticed anything like that. I don't have a MBPro to compare. And to be honest that's not an experiment I would have carried out. As you said, when typing it doesn't bother you.

Different keyboards have different sounds. I have a Thinkpad that sounds and feels different to my MBAs when I type on it (because it's a different keyboard). Does that mean that the Thinkpad is defective? Or the MBAs are defective? Or is it just that different keyboards have different sounds.

I think it's the latter.

Seems like someone looking for an issue to me, but maybe I'm misunderstanding.

The MBA M4 keyboard DOES feel different to the MBA M1 keyboard, for sure. But it IS a different keyboard, so I guess I kind of expected it to feel different. Both are super pleasant to type on for me. No issues at all in my use.

maybe you got one thats good or not sensitive to it or both are wobbly?

I wouldn't blame you to not go looking if you dont have any problems, but it's something I noticed and then researched and had confirmed. in that order :p

its no huge loss, I stuck with the laptop I already have that is in some ways better with speakers and screen anyways, but I wanted to give the 13" MBA a test drive and see if grass is greener. it is on the couch and in bed but all other uses I think the bigger screen will have better usage .. for me
