Hi all

I have decided to replace my MacBook Pro with an iPad Pro (as my computer needs have changed over the years).

I have been clearing my MacBook and I stumbled across Keychain access...

Now I am a little confused...

On the side keychains panel, I have listed:

login
iCloud
System
System Roots

I am just wondering first of all... what are login, system and system roots in Keychain Access?

Also I noticed in the iCloud Keychain, there is not just my safari passwords which I have saved with my iPhone etc... but a load of other items, such as WiFi networks, Touch ID log ins, iPhone app log ins etc... why do these appear here as they don’t appear in my Keychain on my iPhone...

Any help to explain all this would be great, and should I delete the non-safari passwords in the iCloud Keychain, before restoring my Mac?

Keychain Access on your Mac is much more comprehensive than the Safari passwords on iOS. I wouldn't delete anything in your keychain if you plan on continuing to use that Mac.

Apple provides a Keychain Access Guide you might find helpful:
