I'm using Keychain access to stash some 'confidential' information (website passwords and the like). I've created a new keychain with a different password that contains some secure notes. These are set to prompt for the access password when viewed.

Couple of questions:
  1. Where are the underlying files stored? I'd like to know as I'd like to back these up in case the lappie goes phut or missing!
  2. Are there any issues with copying these files from one machine to another, for instance if the machine were to be replaced?
  3. Is this a good place to sash this kind of data? e.g. is it secure?

I know that 1Password and other tools exist for this job, but I'd rather use a generic Apple tool.
