So it's not visible in Launchpad anymore?it has moved to
/System/Library/CoreServices/Applications/Keychain Access.app
It is perfectly fine if the keychain app disappears, if it is replaced by the Password app. I just don't want both the Password app and the Keychain app in Launchpad. You could always make an alias to it.
Yeah, I can't see Apple removing Keychain completely. As you state, it does manage more than the Passwords app like certificates, auth tokens and secure notes. The two apps are in Launchpad. By default, Keychain Access is in the 'Other' folder and Passwords is on the main screen.
The two apps do different things. Passwords is just for passwords. Keychain Access holds other information in addition to passwords, so it doesn't really make sense that they'd hide/remove Keychain Access.
Umm, you can ABSOLUTELY move the Keychain Access app from into the Applications folder... I was testing your claim just now, that it requires disabling SIP to do it and not only does it NOT require disabling anything whatsover, it does not even require your admin password..Yeah, I can't see Apple removing Keychain completely. Since Beta 7 moved Keychain to the /System/.../Applications folder, it doesn't show in Launchpad anymore and you can't move it into your user applications folder without disabling SIP.
You can see if you can create a shortcut to open the app and save the shortcut as an App so it shows in Launchpad. You can also create an alias and save it in your ~/Applications folder but it won't show in Launchpad. I now just use Spotlight to open Keychain when I need it.
I think not. In fact, I am ABSOLUTELY sure not!Umm, you can ABSOLUTELY move the Keychain Access app from into the Applications folder... When you "moved" it, an alias was created at the new location.Like, it just moves Lol
Not sure why your system does not trust you.. but you should probably ask what you did to lose their trust.
(Joke)
Nope. Not an alias. If it were, I wouldn't have posted anything. You think I'm out here trying to move system stuff and don't know what an alias is?I think not. In fact, I am ABSOLUTELY sure not!

Sorry, I should not have been so dogmatic. It doesn't automatically create an alias.Nope. Not an alias. If it were, I wouldn't have posted anything. You think I'm out here trying to move system stuff and don't know what an alias is?
mv
command - both make a copy. I would be interested to know how you moved it.Seems to be working okay for me. Do you not get the "Are you sure you want to delete" prompt either? Is anyone having difficulty removing entries from Keychain Access? I accidentally stored an invalid password for an external drive a while back and I can't remove it. Nothing happens when I attempt to delete it.
This doesn't work. Have you tried opening the app after you copied/pasted it? You'll get an error. You would need to create an alias instead. I've always used Spotlight search to quickly open Keychain Access since it still shows up there. As fiveon posted above:
Go to /System/Library/CoreServices/Applications
Click on the Keychain Access app ONE time to select it.
Hit command-C (copy).
Now open your Applications folder.
Type command-V (paste)
A copy of Keychain Access should now be placed there.
It's quite small.
Easy to find if and when you need it.
Nope. It just does nothing. It just completely ignores anything I do when I attempt to delete it.Seems to be working okay for me. Do you not get the "Are you sure you want to delete" prompt either?
Right, but did you try running the app from the Applications folder? I have no problem copying and pasting it there, but it won't run from Applications. It throws a bunch of errors.Blur wrote above:

Here's a screenshot from my Utilities folder (2024 m4 Mini, Sequoia, 15.3.2) taken immediately before I posted this reply:

You can see that Keychain Access (the app) is "there", and it's not an alias, either, but the full app (which is only about 5k).
Hmmm.... if the actual app (not an alias) won't "paste into" the Applications folder, try just pasting it onto the desktop, and THEN "drag it into" the Applications folder...
