hello, please advice if you know something can be done:
I created a sparse image, password protected a while ago.

I think I did not forget the password but I'm sure I've deleted the keychain as I was playing there. Now I've created a similar test-image with same password to see how they create a new keychain and then I edited this keychain to point to the old disk image. (I'm not sure the old image came under login keychain, as I really dont remember)

Now it still does not work to open the old image with the new keychain and dont know how can I recreate the keychain using the password for the image.

Any help is much appreciated

The keychain just remembers the password for you. Recreating it for an encrypted disk image simply won't work. If you forgot the password to the encrypted disk image, then it's lost. It's password is independent of the keychain.

Thank you for clarification.

I'm sure I did not loose it, I only wanted to know that I can still open the disk image using the right password even if the keychain is deleted.

LE. OMG i found the password, it was saved in two places actually// how quickly we forget.
That was a lesson!
