Since your new password is not the same as your account password, your login keychain is not automatically unlocked when you login. So when an app needs to access that keychain, it asks you to unlock it.

One solution is to make the keychain password match the account password.

Things get a little funky when the Login keychain password does not match the admin password as the Login keychain is set to open on startup and remain open.

It is problematic when you set the Login keychain to behave differently as well.

If you want to separate some items from the Login keychain so that they are password protected, such as Mail, then make a new keychain and move those items from the Login keychain to the new keychain.
