Keynote '08 & Apple remote

I can't seem to get my Apple remote to work with Keynote (4.0.1) although it's apparently supported. If I open a presentation and press play on the remote the presentation will play but I can't advance slides. The remote works fine with front row and apps like pandoraboy, ialertu etc (obviously not open while keynote is).
Any ideas? :)
