i have been wondering is there a place (website) where you can download additional effects, transitions, etc.
 
No there are no additional anything to download for keynote. But explore what you have it is an amazing app.
If you have ppt you can combine some of the benefits of ppt into keynote to your advantage but keynote has better animations. look on the web for keynoteuser site it has some good articles.
