My little nephew knocked over a cup of coffee right across the keyboard to my MacBook Pro. I quickly lifted it up and turned it upside down, where it stayed overnight. The next day, all seemed to work - except keys 4,5,6,7,8 & 9. The Mac was purchased at Best Buy and we bought an extended warranty. Should I take it there? What might the problem / solution be? Thanks!

The problem is that you just let it sit there in the open air over night then turned it on. You should have cleaned it off, stuck it in rice and let it rest there for a good day +.

Your MLB may be fried. Your best bet, now that your warranty is void, is to open the machine up and clean it up. Was it black coffee or are you dealing with cream and sugar? Whatever the case, the acid in the coffee is not good for the machine.

There are a few plethora of threads on this very subject found right here on MR. You can find threads for spills of water, coffee, wine, whiskey, sperm, soda, clear soda, diet soda, tea, and juice. I suggest looking at all of those and then making an assessment on the best approach to clean your machine off.

if the machine turns on, good. turn it off and get the keyboard replaced. easy fix. if they have accidental coverage they should be able to help however not sure if theyre trained to do Apple repairs.
