when i turned my macbook on, none of the letter keys will function, they just make an error sound. and the eject key dims the screen:confused:. also its behaving as if i am pressing the shift key, (eg, slow motion minimising & it highlights instead of selects songs on itunes)

i cannot select things as it thinks im right clicking.

i plugged in an external mouse, and the same problem, so must be a software issue?

anyone had the same problem? thanks guys:)

Go in to your system preferences and then the keyboard preferences. There's a checkbox with something like "Assign Function keys to F1, F2 function." Change that from what it's on now, and see if that helps with the function keys.

With the trackpad, the only thing I can think of is that the right/left hand setup for right/left clicking has been reversed in the preference pane, or you assigned a "hot corner" to right clicking and you're always pressing in that spot.
