Is there a way to set a Keyboard Shortcut to Turn off the Airport Card in OSX? Or a Third-Party App that does it so i can assign a Keyboard shortcut to it?

Just looking for easy way to shut it off and conserve battery power on a Notebook when im not surfing the Internet.

I was getting ALLOT of extra juice out of my batery with the Airport Turned off for a few hours.

Mmmmm, OS X lets you assign custom shortcuts to any menu item in System Preferences, but I don't know if that applies to the Airport menu... I'm really curious about the answer to this.

Another alternate solution might be that you can turn it off via AppleScript and then make a keyboard shortcut for the AppleScript....That way if you wanted to, you could also make the shortcut handle the BT radio as well...

I cant assign Shortcuts to an option thats not a menu item
The Turn off Airport option is a button in INTERNET CONNECT:confused:

Nice idea, although Ive never tried writing an apple script,
anyone know of a good how-to/tutorial to get me started?
Ill give it a shot and see if i can come up with one.

Have you tried using the airport status menu in the menubar? You can turn it off with that. If it's not visible you can trun it on using the network tab in the system preferences.
