What kind of games could I try on this MBP that would work and look well? Something for occasional gaming when I have little time to spare, not something that has a storyline or something like that. I don't have particular preference since I haven't played in a very long time.

How's the graphics on the M3 Pro? Can it work decently with more demanding games?

If you just want to test the graphics there are a lot of Mac games with demo. RE 4 can be played as demo in the beginning. Here are all the demos on Steam.

I'm sure that it will do well, as my M1 MacBook Air is generally fine.

MacApp Store has some games on sale right now, although a few of them are also available on Steam, should you choose to use another platform in the future.

Thanks. I had forgotten completely about Steam. It is really a long time since I last played.

Also don't forget that Epic Games and GOG give away free games regularly and some have Mac ports. Epic gives away at least one free game a week.

What is the practical difference between games installed with Steam and the same installed from the App Store?

On Steam you have Steam Play which means you get both the Mac and Windows version. On Mac App Store many games have Universal Purchase which means you pay once and can play on Mac, iPad and iPhone. MAS has though very slow download speed. It took me two days to download RE 4 because MAS is not adapted yet for large files. You can't play with others on Steam either if you buy on MAS.

Is Fifa working on macOS these days either with Steam or something else? I can't find much info about it.

No, EA has only Simcity 4 for Mac, no other games. Funny enough they released a native EA App for Apple Silicon recently though.

Just getting a download of the new EA application took long enough.

I don't understand why the Mac App Store is still selling Sims 2. Won't EA let them have a new version or is it that they can't sell all the add-ons?
