Is there a way to redownload all the PDFs and books I purchased on my iPad2 for my 3? It seems they've all disappeared even after I've synced with my last back up. iBooks has no books in it either for that matter.
 
The only way I got mine back was to sync again with my MacBook Pro. Surely not the solution you were looking for but the only way I found I could do it :-(
