Kindle app on mbp bounces and doesn't start

The kindle application for mac works intermittently for me. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it a few times. Sometimes the icon just bounces in the dock for a while and then just vanishes. Any thoughts?

When you reinstall, are you re-downloading it from the website each time or taking the application off a disk image you have saved since the first time you installed it?

I tried both ways. I wonder if it uses silverlight and there may be a conflict. I'll have to see if it happens after or while hulu or netflix is running.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't use Silverlight.

There might be a bad preference file.
