My SSD hunt should finally be over. I was originally planning on purchasing the Crucial m4, then the Samsung 470, and finally, I landed on this deal. The Kingston SSDNow V+100 is on sale for $90 on Newegg after a mail in rebate. Get it here: http://www.newegg.com/Special/ShellShocker.aspx?cm_sp=ShellShocker-_-20-139-638-_-08122011_3

It uses the same Toshiba controller that Apple SSD's use, so while it may not be the fastest, it is reliable. After looking at dozens of real world benchmarks, I figured I won't see much of a different between this drive and say, a Vertex 3 for my consumption.

Garbage Collection is aggressive on this drive, which helps since TRIM isn't enabled on 3rd party SSD's.

Anyone with this drive want to chime in? Any firmware that I will need to update? If so, how is this done for this drive?
