In my neck of the woods some elections are coming up. I am assembling "kits" for groups to use. Seeing as I would like to get the most bang for the buck, I thought I would ask here for some help/exp/advice.
Just for some reference, here are some of the political videos I have done and am looking to teach others to do.

So with those as examples and keeping in mind alot of these people will be nOObs, I want to keep it simple (and cheap)
- camera
- lav mic (wireless too much $$$)
- shotgun mic (double AA power)
- light or reflector?
Seeing as there is no crazy color correcting or gfx, I was thinking a point and shoot. BUT I use DSLR's and haven't used a point and shoot in ages. I know the tech is decent and can produce some cool stuff.
