Not quite sold on paying $30 for a glorified rubber band, and was wondering if anybody has produced a case similar to the Apple bumper case. I am aware of the cases like the Griffin Reveal, though I am looking for cases that leave the back open (basically identical to the bumper design)

That i can think of off the top of my head, Marware, iLuv, and Scosche all have some kind of band-only case :)

Calling the bumper a glorified rubber band is like calling a bike a glorified metal/carbon fiber tube. There are people who think the bumper is great for $30, but I personally can't attest since I haven't got an iPhone 4 yet, but it looks very nice in pictures.

I am no longer sold on the bumper after seeing how it doesn't protect the i4 when dropped and its way overpriced as it costs $$0.80 per unit to make. isn't that what someone here found out? i bought a black one and returned it the next day. i see all the colors are out now and am tempted to just buy the orange and just have it on hand but $30...

Do you live in a big city? I live in NYC and all the street vendors probably have them already.

Did you return it even though you opened the package. I was wondering if they would accept returns for it because the package is going to be ripped up and destroyed.
