hello all,

i've got some storage issues that need addressing.

looking to purchase about 20 TB of storage over the next few months.

interested in minimum of 2 TB, and all in an external style format.

or maybe at this point i should be thinking something bigger...

i'm simply archiving video and would like redundancy if possible

any tips?

thanks!

You are more or less guaranteed to get recommendations for any existing brand as well as horror stories about the same brands. Most drives will work for a long time, but eventually all drives fail.

That said, I'm happy with my Western Digital Desktop external drives, a mix of 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0TB ones. They have however fairly recently been demoted to carry backups only, as I've migrated to a storage server based on unRAID to provide some level of redundancy.
