Hello!
I'm wondering if you can see what iOS the phone is shipped with by any text/numbers that you can see on the box of your iphone package. I'm talking about the iPhone 4s and most importan if it has 5.1 or older.

Thanks in advance!

In other word, No. You can't really tell what iOS it has when it is unopened and unactivated.

You an visit this http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html/ and type in your serial number. When you go to this site, you may want to look at the Production Week. From here you can pretty much tell what iOS it has. Week 10-14 is the week of March, and the iOS 5.1 was released sometimes around week 11. So depending on what production week it is anything after Week 14 is likely to have 5.1 installed.

That helped alot, knowing the week will get me enough accuracy of the iOS, thanks!

I guess you got your answer, but I'm still sort of curious about why you'd ask. I just fail to see how it's that big of a deal -- it's not like the update to 5.1 takes particularly long, at least for me the sync from scratch is much, much longer than a regular update.

Fyi, I just got an iPhone 4S this past week and it came with iOS 5.0...

Same with me two weeks ago--5.0--from the ATT store.
