My two new KRK Rokit 5's are crackling when not in use and I've barely used them. Please tell me they didn't blow out already. Any test I can do?

"Could also be interference from the mains, so try on a different ring."

What do you mean by this?

Bump

I replaced the cables with brand new XLR cables. Problem still exists.

Ie. try and take the speakers to a different location or house to make sure its no t the actual mains that is introducing the interferences in to the speakers. Or it could be something wireless in or near your house that the speakers are picking up.

I am confused - did they always crackle, or did they just start crackling? What are you running them through?

They began crackling from the day I set them up. They're connected to their own power strip. XLR cables come from the monitors to a PreSonus USB AudioBox.

They crackle when playing music, when not playing music and even when I change OS X's sound preferences.

Some more symptoms that I haven't seen anyone else mention with their crackling issues:

- Crackle/static does not increase or decrease volume when I adjust the volume. It stays at a quiet and constant level.
- Happens randomly. I can play songs for hours and the static doesn't get worse. I don't know what triggers it.
- First tried 1/8" cables and now using expensive XLR cables. No change.
