I know there are individuals threads discussing these. But between this two, which one is actually better for day to day use? I feel that the Kuycon looks better. Anyone happened to have both?

@EugW is the expert on this stuff (but I don't think he has the Kuycon). I think the Kuycon looks better (I prefer a glossy display), but for US-based folks, LG obviously has a better warranty situation insofar as it’s easier to get after-sale support. And a better return scenario, should you not like it. They appear to use the same panel, but the LG is TB5, not that that seems to matter much.

Hopefully someone can compare the two. With any luck, I’ll have a pair of LG's soon; I was considering ordering a Kuycon, but I don’t have the physical space for all of them and returning a Kuycon is basically impossible unless it’s damaged, so someone else can hopefully take one for the team.

I only have the LG 6K, so I can't comment on the Kuycon with first hand experience. I can say the Kuycon has a way better looking chassis, and has that glossy screen many seem to prefer, but according to those threads it also has some bugs on macOS in the implementation preventing HDR support and preventing 4:4:4 chroma on Thunderbolt 4 / DisplayPort 1.4 systems. There is a workaround for the HDR issue though that works for some people. For the 4:4:4 bug, check out this post. There is no fix for it, although the workaround is to use a DisplayPort 2.1 Mac or else to use HDMI 2.1.

For me that wasn't even necessarily the #1 concern. As @filmgirl says, one of the big issues with the Kuycon is the inability to return it if you don't like it, whereas you can with the LG as it's a major manufacturer sold through many different retail channels with good return policies. To give Kuycon credit, anecdotally it seems that they have decent support for those who have actual obvious defects, but beyond that you won't be able to return it. What also gave me pause is the fact that there are companies impersonating Kuycon with better sites than Kuycon's own actual retailers, but they are small enough that they haven't been able to do anything about those fake sites. I also found it strange that the monitor control is based on a remote control.

The LG 6K works fine for HDR support and for 4:4:4 chroma on Thunderbolt 4 / DisplayPort 1.4 systems (as confirmed by my own M4 Mac mini and M4 MacBook Air), and despite the dislike for matte screens sight unseen, I actually really like the look on the LG 6K. Text quality is excellent and the matte is much less obtrusive than matte screens from older model monitors. You have to see it in person to appreciate it, so I'm curious to find out what @filmgirl will think about it. That said, not everything is roses with the LG. Some people have complained about LG's customer support, and while my unit has zero backlight bleed, it does have some dirty screen effect, more noticeable than I've seen on Apple displays for example. It's the panel lottery phenomenon that happens to most lower cost manufacturers though, and less so for Apple in my limited experience.

The other issue in my case is cost. The Kuycon is actually more expensive shipped from ClickClack.io. It depends upon your locale and how much of a discount you can get off the LG, but the LG is significantly cheaper for me here in Canada. If you order from Alibaba, the pricing is close though. Here in Canada, pre-$13.90 eco fee and pre-tax, I'm paying CA$2380 / US$1696. In addition there is supposed to be a CA$300 / US$214 pre-paid credit card to come in a few weeks for those who pre-ordered, so hopefully that's coming too. If it does, that means the pre-tax price here was under US$1500. That makes me wonder if in the US there will be a sale on Black Friday.

There's also the Asus 6K monitor. I don't like their looks though, and I worry about backlight bleed as a common issue with them. However, it's the cheapest of the three.
