KVM Switch in Clamshell Mode

Hey all. Does anyone have experience with a KVM DVI switch with the MacBook? I recently got this one and it works really well but the way I would like to use it is in clamshell mode. When I connect the macbook to the monitor directly, clamshell mode works just fine. However, when I connect it through the KVM, it doesn't seem to work, I don't know if there's something I have to do first.
