Hi

Does KVM's work with Mac Mini M1 and Big Sur OS?

I would like to buy a KVM such as TESmart for dual monitor setup with Mac Mini and Windows with a single Logitech keyboard mouse/combo?

For example:

As far as keyboard/mouse go, I use the built-in KVM with my Dell 49" monitor and a PC/Mac plugged in. It works very well--but switching is not as seamless as Flow-compatible hardware (you have to press a button twice to switch from Mac to PC; but there is a hotkey switch from Windows to Mac).

I have also used a Flow-compatible Logitech keyboard and mouse combo (MX3 series). Also works well, but the keyboard switching was not as reliable (i.e., had to confirm often that it had indeed switched by simply moving the mouse cursor).

I switch between 2018 Mac mini and another computer. I just switch inputs on the monitor

I have a cheap usb switch from IOGEAR to switch usb wireless receiver for my keyboard/mouse between computers.

so it’s a two step process - switch input on display, then press button on usb switcher - but it’s a lot cheaper than a 4K dual head KVM

I use that same TESmart KVM with a mac and PC and it works just fine, even with 4k. Just be sure to use the generic USB port. I had issues with the other ports.

EDIT: It's worth mentioning that this KVM uses an EDID emulator on each port. When switching between computers, the KVM continues to send a signal that matches your monitor to the other computer. This prevents your multi-monitor setup from flipping out and resetting every time it's switched. Not all KVMs have this and usually requires spending $50 on adapters to solve.

My M1 Mac mini, along with my stable of Intel Mac minis, work perfectly on my ServerLink 8 port USB combo KVM.

It works with a KVM. My friend has an M1 mini and a windows 10 setup that it works seamlessly with. Even works with his webcam as well as monitor, keyboard mouse etc

I also have a W10 laptop and a M1 Mac mini that I would like to connect to my TESmart Dual Monitor KVM. Can I ask how you have your connections from the Mac mini to the KVM?

One monitor is straight HDMI to HDMI and the other monitor is HDMI using the Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter connected to the thunderbolt port.

The problem remains the different keyboard layouts between Windows and macOS. This doesn't change when you connect an MX Keys from Logitech with a Unifying Receiver to the KVM switch.
With two Windows computers or two Macs, however, something like this works very well.
