Most of it, from what I can remember, is just eye candy. Is there any particular usability function that you want? There is no direct alternative but there are sure to be alternatives to some of the individual features.

I agree it's eye-candy but I think it's more useful than the desktop switcher that we have. Wouldn't you agree?
