Land's End here. Hubby has the long Squall parka and has worn it every winter for the last 9 years and it still looks new. I even wear it when I take the kids/dogs outside to play. and WARM!! oh yeah.
We do hve some LL bean stuff, too, and their items are great quality as well. I'm just not all about the outdoorsy look.
TNF is for people that are more active, but I suppose LL Bean serves a purpose as a lifestyle/outdoorsy brand, whereas TNF is just confused about what it wants to be.
My main shell jacket that I wear for winter (in Melbourne, mind you) is a very good TNF shell, but I think it's great because it's both waterproof AND looks good. The style is more for daily wear, and the outer shell looks like houndstooth. You can walk around in the rain, go to work, and not look like you're about to climb a mountain.
If you wanted good technical apparel, you wouldn't go to TNF. They sell low- to mid-range technical clothing for a high price.
