Man's parents notified of his death due to a dead man being found in a hotel room he rented, along with his identification. They find out otherwise via a lawyer who sent a letter offering to represent the son who indeed, was still alive, and sitting in a New Orleans jail. Parents won't be charged for the funeral expenses already incurred.

I wonder if anyting positive ever takes place here that makes it to national headlines?

So first, they think they're son is dead. Instead, they find out he's in jail on public drunkeness & cocaine possession. Do u think they were relieved?

yeah there aren't many "cat gets rescued from tree" stories any more. american news like CNN is so enthralled with Iraq, code orange, and delayed flights that there really isn't any real news. where do americans get real news - the daily show with jon stewart is an interesting filter for the bull that is fed through other media outlets.

Something similar happened here in Massachusetts. A fire occurred in a Beverly home with two victims. One dead, both were identified. The family had the body cremated prior to burial. The living person in the hospital was disfigured due to the fire and had an oxygen mask on her. When the mask was taken off it was discovered that a misidentification was made. The family of the dead woman are suing the coroner, hospital, and funeral director. This situation is very sad for both families. Can't even imagine the feelings of the lady that lived.
