LACIe 100 gb mobile hard drive help

hi

I just got my new hard drive. I jus wanted to know can i just plug it on to my comp and start using it or i have o format ti or something else.

This is my 1st exteranl hard drive so i have no idea..

Plug it in, and see if it shows up on your desktop. If not, then go to Applications - Utilities and open up Disk Utility. It will show up there, and you can format it as you'd like, and it should show up fine on the desktop.

I have the same drive (bought new) and it was just plug & play but if you got it second hand you may have to format as posted above.

Yes, it erases all the contents of the drive. That shouldn't be a problem, though, since if it has stuff on it already, it would most likely already be formatted in a way that OS X would recognize (and so you wouldn't need to reformat to begin with).
