Hello all,

I have recently purchased the LaCie 16x DVD ±RW with LightScribe, Design by F.A. Porsche, and since having it i have noticed a realy strange occurence.

After using the drive to burn any media, cd or dvd, i will try to put my iMac G5 to sleep (either by pressing the power button once or in the apple menu) and the screen will sleep but the hard drive doesn't power down?

I have waited and waited for the drive to stop spinning but to no avail! The next thing is that it will not wake after this has happened forcing me to restart the iMac by holding the power button down and forcing it to shut down, which i hate doing.

Anyone else come across this occurence with their writers?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I can't help. I have an internal LaCie (Samsung SH-S162L) that does not seem to have any adverse effects.

I have the same problem with a external combo drive for my quicksilver mac. I don't know how to fix it so I just turn it off every time, I hate it.

do you mean turn off ur mac or the la cie drive...?

If i turn off the drive it makes the imac crash when going to sleep if i leave it on it doesnt....

You may all now say just leave it on, but that is just a waste of power....!!!

Thanks to all those who have tried to help.

More solutions welcome please.
