LaCie 3TB Big Disk vs. regular RAID Disk Array

I'm debating between these two setups.

I know the Lacie has a limit of 3TB of drive space and going with a bare box and separate internal drives to buld a RAID has a higher limit. I'll be using the eSata connection since I already have a RAID setup. The advantage I see with the Lacie is the portability. I see no speed difference unless I'm missing something.

Any help appreciated.
