Lacie 500 Mini Ethernet drive problems

I just got a Lacie 500G Ethernet drive and hooked it up to my new Airport Extreme. After getting it all set up it, it slowed the wireless network WAY down. The Vonage phones wouldnt work right and the internet was much slower. Am I doing something wrong? I thought it might have had something to do with transfering files to the drive but even when I am not interacting with the drive the phones are messed up and the internet is slow.
