I'd say go for it, it's a good price.

But also check lacie.com for their clearance HDs, you might find one cheaper or one that you like more (ie ethernet, firewire, etc).

I got one of these in June and it's worked great hooked up to my Airport. That's about as low as I've seen a new one. No problems for me

I have this exact drive.

My only complaint is the noisy fan that spins up intermittently to cool the thing. Otherwise it's a great drive, nice an fast and big... pretty much what you'd expect.

the lacie designs aren't fanless?

Pretty good price for a 500gig'er. I just picked up one of these at Frys about a week ago for $119. They go on sale periodically if you arent in a big hurry to get one. Great thing about this one is its USB or Firewire.

I have 3 Acomdata drives and no complaints. All fanless and virtually zero noise.

Personally, I hate Lacie drives. I've had 3 go out in the last 1.5 years (250 gb, 300 gb, and 500 gb). Some say really bad luck; I say really crappy drives. After searching online after my issues with them, they seem to be known to go out more than most on the market.
