I have a Lacie Big Disk Extreme, that has USB 2.0, Firewire 400 and Firewire 800 interfaces. I have it connected to my iMac with FW 400, but I just bought a new MBP. Can I hook up the FW 800 interface on the MBP while this is still attached to the iMac?

Why not just connect the external to the Mac you use most, and allow shared use of it through your network (since both the iMac and MBP have wireless). Seems a no brainer to me

it's a fair bit slower over wireless, and if the iMac is an old one (pre-gigabit ethernet), FW or USB is still faster.
