I've been getting an error on my Lacie Big5 for about a week now. I've done some quick googling around and have not found anything to lead me how to fix it. The error is CNID DB. We have 10 computers that access it. I've been back it up manually to our time machine in case this is a sign it's going to die.

Any Thoughts?

Okay, that's a software error, not hardware.

The CNID database is an addon for afp compatibility and stores filesystem stuff that regular Unix doesn't understand. Unfortunately, it can get corrupted under certain circumstances which is almost certainly what has happened here.

There should be a relatively simple fix for the problem, but I'm not going to advise you as I'm not familiar with the hardware concerned or its embedded system. I'd suggest you contact LaCie tech support for a fix.
