Has anyone else experienced this issue? I have a LaCie 160GB D2 triple extreame. When I unmount the drive and put the iMac to sleep the iMac does not sleep right away. Instead the display goes blank and the fans stay on. After exactly (timed it) 1min and 40 seconds the fans go FULL BLAST for another 20 seconds and then the iMac goes to sleep (Sleep light pulses).
I have troubleshooted everything from:
Switching the firewire ports
Turning the LaCie off before and after putting iMac to sleep
Resetting PRAM/VRAM, etc.etc.etc.
Talked to Apple rep who in turn told me to go to LaCie as this is a 3rd party issue. The rep told me the delay in sleep would not hurt the iMac
LaCie says go to Apple as it is a firewire issue or open firmware issue....
I give up. Shall I just settle and accept that when I use my external firewire drive and unmount it my iMac will not go to sleep right away?
When I do not mount the drive the iMac does go to sleep right away.
comments?
